Daniel J. Volpe Horror
Jay Wilburn
In mid-October, the world lost a great man and an excellent writer. Jay Wilburn was much more than an author, he was a streamer, podcaster, mentor, friend to all, father, husband, and son. Unfortunately, Jay suffered a catastrophic stroke and succumbed to his injuries days later. I didn’t get to spend much time with him, but I considered him a friend. He supported indie horror greatly and was quick to offer help to anyone in need. His loss is devasting to the world of indie horror, but Jay was a prolific writer, leaving us with some amazing work. If you have not read any of his work, unfuck that immediately (in the words of the great Brian Keene), by clicking the link here

Recent appearances
October was a great month for conventions and shows. Myself and Aron Beauregard attended the Monstah Expo in Taunton, Massachusets in the middle of the month. It was an excellent show, well run, and widely attended. The vendors were excellent and varied from crafts, to SFX make-up and of course, books. We’re already planning our trip for next year and will continue vending there for the foreseeable future. Thanks to everyone that came out to see us and hang out. We appreciate you all.
Also in October, was my charity book signing, Hungry for Horror. This event continues to grow and this year it featured not only authors but movie talent. Jim Krut, the helicopter zombie from the Dawn of the Dead, and David Lee Madison, writer, and director of Mr. Hush, along with authors Frank J. Edler, Michael J. Worden, Tom Duffy, Lee Andrew Forman, Joseph Pesavento, and myself, rounded out this event. We collected tons of food, toys, and toiletries, all of which will stay local. Thanks again to Haven for Heroes for giving us the space to use and supporting the event.
